DualSense vs DualSense Edge: is the pro controller worth it?
By the Seven Seas Dawn team · 14 October 2026
Every PS5 comes with a DualSense. The DualSense Edge is Sony’s pro controller with the same haptics and adaptive triggers, plus parts aimed at competitive players.
What the Edge adds
Two back buttons you can map to any input, replaceable stick modules (so stick drift no longer means a new controller), adjustable trigger stops for faster shooting, and custom profiles you switch from a button on the controller. It comes with a carrying case and a braided cable.
Where the standard DualSense wins
The standard DualSense costs much less and has longer battery life. For single-player games and casual online play it is all most players need, and special editions add a collectable design with the same hardware.
Quick answer
Buy the Edge if you play competitive shooters or fighting games, or if you have replaced controllers because of stick drift. Otherwise a standard or special edition DualSense is the better buy.
